Well I never used any Linux as my primary desktop so you really weren't
talking to me. What I want to know is whether Red Hat abandoned the
desktop market because they thought it had no future or because they
simply think there is no money in it. If it is the latter, then Red Hat
is only confirming what Nautilus already demonstrated.

I have heard that even MS barely makes money on selling their OS to end
users. The big bucks come from their OEM operation. And MS can leverage
their practical monopoly on what ships with new machines to encourage
OS upgrades for older machines.

We know that MS is trying to push their customers to a subscription
model but I haven't heard that they have been successful to date.
