As has already been pointed out, RH removed support for non-royalty free codecs
to keep them from being a target of lawsuits. It was a move to keep them from
having to pay a fee for every copy of their distro that was downloaded or sold
as that would have gotten quite expensive since lots of people just download the
isos from the Net. This had nothing to do with appealing to the corporate
workstation market as they still shipped with XMMS and other media players as
part of the distro.
