I appreciate the fast reply you gave. The tone didn't bother me. I understood
where you were coming from. I myself am not entirely pleased with the
situation I've been put into, but I need to come up with a solution anyway.
I believe in the end I will be modifying a pop server to check mail elsewhere
once a user logs in, as was suggested (I think) by technomage...
I respect the answers I get from people on this list, because we all have
experience in different backgrounds and different levels.
I've been using Linux for almost 13 years, sometimes I still feel like a
newbie. Sometimes I get stumped on something and I'm getting too technical
about it and a newbie will offer his noob advice, and it's just dumb.. But in
it's naiveness I realize I was going about something all wrong.
I believe the community we share on this list does not solely depend on how
long or how much experience we've got, it's our different view points that
make it work. Which is why someone who might have no clue what is wrong,
might point out some obvious simple minute detail, that in our technical
level of thinking we over looked.
Or in trying to come up with a quick solution, we may fail to realize the
overhead we may need to pursue something, or the security hazards...
Kind of like me having the iron-power to do this.. lol
It's not right, but I have the power and they want it...
And about your harshness in answering my question, thank you. I have been at
this a long time. I'm not looking for a friendly noob answer, I want the
answer, short and sweet so I can get to work... I understand how you reply
depending on the persons needs. I appreciate that. It saves me time.
I'm sorry I had to ask such a stupid question, and that brought the list into
this frenzy... But needless to say, I still have a problem, and whether I
like it or not, I have to deal with it. Until I can convince those above me
otherwise.
