The person who owns it got a bad case of RL. Don't know if she could arrang=
e
for us to get it back.
I'd rather use the PLUG site anyway. Why drive people elsewhere. We have a
nice site, let's improve it and use it :).

People would still be able to request what they want. Provided we can help
them with that, we would. I don't want to take away choice. I want to reduc=
e
confusion. Minimally, we need to try to get friends who show up together on
the same distro. Same thing for multiple boxen for one person.

What I'd like is for use to have a default that we suggest when the newbie
doesn't already have something in mind.

Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. Hmmm, I think it is a good idea :).
I don't think we could agree on a single distro at this point, so that migh=
t
be the direction we need to go.
I'd still like to decide on one or the other. I think we'd probably end up
with KDE. I prefer GNOME and I'd prefer to promote GNOME, but I still think
KDE is probably the way to go. Maybe I should listen to Ted and start
promoting GNOPPIX :).

Limits the range of newbie questions. Most of us don't run into a lot of
things anymore because we've learned how to get around whatever issue it
might be, or we don't follow the docs, so we don't know they describe the
wrong thing, or we don't think about vocabulary issues, etc.
By having most of the newbies come from the same place we are more likely t=
o
have repeat questions that only need to be researched once.
Then we could add an InstallFest2003 FAQ :).

Yup. We need someone to do the lifting :).
> VERY IMPORTANT! A defrag can turn a less than 1 hour install into a 3+
> hour adventure in boredom.
Yup. This is something we've not emphasized before. It burned us. We need t=
o
make sure this is strongly emphasized on the site.

For ntfs? Cool. Can you find out what they are? Anyone have experience
resizing ntfs with Free Software?
Another option is to contact whoever it is that owns the commercial one and
ask about an unlimited boxen, one day license for using it. They would get
promotion as we'd tell people what we're using.
AZOTO, of course, doesn't promote this, but the InstallFest is a PLUG event=
,
so PLUG needs to decide how to handle that.
