| The person who owns it got a bad case of RL. Don't know if she could

arrange
| for us to get it back.

|
| I'd rather use the PLUG site anyway. Why drive people elsewhere. We have a
| nice site, let's improve it and use it :).

I will say this over and over and over until it sinks in the fricking
PLUG site url is horrendous to remember. For something like this it
would be nice to have it at http://plug.whateverthellitis.us/InstallFest
and have links from the index to get there, but then offer
http://plugpresents.com to refresh right to that site. This way it's
easy to hand out to people you casually meet.

For example we have some gross url for GNU Enterprise deep within the
GNU website, but we can give out www.gnuenterprise.org or www.gnue.org
to people to assure it's easy to find and it just refreshes there.

|
|
| People would still be able to request what they want. Provided we can help
| them with that, we would. I don't want to take away choice. I want to

reduce
| confusion. Minimally, we need to try to get friends who show up

together on
| the same distro. Same thing for multiple boxen for one person.

This was nicely put. I know red hat got flamed for bluecurve (or
whatever it is called). However, it boils down to right now, too much
choice is noise and makes people confused. "Steering them down a path"
cuts the noise to signal ration and helps them adapt. It does not
remove the choice later if they so wish change things.

Agreed.

|
| Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. Hmmm, I think it is a good idea :).

I like that idea, once we choose the distro to be the preferred. :)

| I don't think we could agree on a single distro at this point, so that

might
| be the direction we need to go.

I think choosing a distro is more important than a desktop.

| I'd still like to decide on one or the other. I think we'd probably end up
| with KDE. I prefer GNOME and I'd prefer to promote GNOME, but I still

think
| KDE is probably the way to go. Maybe I should listen to Ted and start
| promoting GNOPPIX :).

Shamedly I am turning into a KDE convert.
