Question regarding Linux kernels 2.2 and 2.4

Subject: Question regarding Linux kernels 2.2 and 2.4
All of the new distros come with 2.4. I think it has gotten to the point of
being nice and stable. What troubles me is that we havent seen a 2.5 series
yet.
