Subject: Re: Anyone Using HostGator, Bluehost, or some other cheap shared hosting provider?
My wife and I host a wordpress site on Bluehost and it's been a dumpster
fire. Once the season is over in the spring we're going to rehost
somewhere else but my opinion on BH has definitely soured. I can't speak
for general hosting, but the hosted Wordpress has been awful.

It was "hacked" (Crappy php scripts dumped that were easily cleaned up) and
they said you need to buy the Sitelock protection. OK...we bought the
protection package. Weeks later it happened again. I logged into the
console and they removed it for some reason. I get the sense that support
is just a queue of people grabbing questions and answering them in whatever
way they know how. There is no continuity from case to case so each call
is spent trying to explain to them why their people chose to solve the last
problem the way they did. Our staging site has been unusable since we
started with them, the site went down and we finally got someone to admit
that the physical host we were on went down despite several people assuring
us it was on our end and not theirs, I could go on....

I know enough now about wordpress that I'll probably move to Lightsail or
GoDaddy or something. But Bluehost is definitely out for me.

My .02
