The upgrade script I've written creates a 'sandbox' (chroot jail) for
building the rpms, so it doesn't affect the running system during the
rpmbuilds (compiles). Once all the binary rpms are built, it upgrades
all the (modified) packages at once, so down time is minimal. The
toaster is effectively an rpm based collection of apps at this point.
You could add the binary rpms to a local yum repository and use yum to
do the update if you so desired.
