What's the manual say about the Protiva (I haven't even heard of it)? If
it's an older bios, it may not recognize the drive (ata speed
incompatible). I have an old PentiumII box that I upgraded from 15G to
40G drive, and had to add a high-speed ata-100 (or 133?) pci controller
(~$30 at Fry's) for it to work properly. I don't remember if it saw the
larger (and faster) drive at all or not. If it did, it wasn't able to
use all of it. Also, be sure to use the 80-wire ide ribbon.
