Proteva box won't read HD

Hey Pluggers,

I'm trying to install a new 80G HD on a Proteva box that had XP on a 12G HD so 
that I can dual boot Ubuntu and XP.
Problem is that no matter what settings I setup on the bios it won't recognize 
the HD. Am I missing something here or is the Proteva so proprietary that it 
will only recognize factory installed bios on the HD?
Anybody know of any workarounds, hacks , etc.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
