If more memory doesn't solve it, I will use that as a windows box and
use the IBM laptop as a GNU/Linux box which I bet will work perfect. I
saw some stuff on the net that when Dell went to a newer BIOS, that
started the problem. Some people loaded an older BIOS to get things to
work. Dell is very much a WinTel shop so it does't surprise me. Besides,
since windows is much more stingy with resources, it would be prudent to
use the more powerful box for windows. I'll check hardware compat first
this time. We are getting better when the expectation is that it will
just work.

BTW, the hsync is 31-80 and refresh is 56-76 as per the Dell spec in the
config file.

I'll post again if I solve it. Thanks for the help.
