As already discussed, going from unstable to sarge will change to track
testing ( and maybe someday stable ).

That's fine. You don't necessarily need to downgrade. You will end up with
a somewhat confused setup, but it should continue working.

What you can do in the future is track stable or testing and only grab the
things you need out of unstable.

See my cafod doc for more info on one way of pinning a distro to use
testing. If you use synaptic there is a config option to lock in a distro.

( BTW, that doc could probably use a cleanup, so everyone should feel free
to send me suggestions. )

Stay with stable or testing. If you need a specific item or two from
unstable single them out.

For instance, this is what I almost used recently to get a firefox update
before it hit testing.

apt-get --target-release unstable install mozilla-firefox
