As already discussed, going from unstable to sarge will change to track testing ( and maybe someday stable ). That's fine. You don't necessarily need to downgrade. You will end up with a somewhat confused setup, but it should continue working. > I had the apt configured for unstable so that I could get some of newer > packages but if I can run sarge and possibly have a more stable system that > would be great. What you can do in the future is track stable or testing and only grab the things you need out of unstable. See my cafod doc for more info on one way of pinning a distro to use testing. If you use synaptic there is a config option to lock in a distro. https://www.LuftHans.com/unix/ ( BTW, that doc could probably use a cleanup, so everyone should feel free to send me suggestions. ) Stay with stable or testing. If you need a specific item or two from unstable single them out. For instance, this is what I almost used recently to get a firefox update before it hit testing. apt-get --target-release unstable install mozilla-firefox ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # "... the social skills of a cow on acid." - der.hans --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
