dude - should be really easy.

KDE ? is that what you're using?

This is from a gnome user and I'm guessing that something got honkered
in your kde environment

Open a terminal

su to root 'su -' #remember you need the space and '

cd /home/NAME_OF_USER_WHOSE_SETUP_IS_BROKEN
mv .kde .kde-bak
exit

Then, logout and login as previous, broken user. See if things are back
to normal
