I agree with der.hans on this one. For now, I'd rather stick with a few well known distros. If LinuxQuestions doesn't have a forum for the distro or there isn't strong community support, let's wait a bit. We can add more distros as we get better at running the InstallFest and have people that have decided to stick with one distro and can offer support.
Storm Linux is what I started with which had a lot of promise but only lasted about two years and then was long gone. On the other hand, I don't want to force everyone to use Slackware either. (no, really I don't.<g>) And since we've all "distro-hopped" for the first couple of months using Linux, I'd like to have a system in place to open up consideration for new distros. If someone's got a box with nothing important on it and is open to experimentation, well, why not.
As has been said before, we need to focus on getting a working Linux desktop up on the machine with as much as possible working including the modem, if that's what they use to connect to the Net. Jumping from distro to distro rather than learning to diagnois what needs fixing doesn't make us look good.
