That will probably be your biggest obstacle, INS is a real pain in the
butt. Basically, you can get a work visa but you'll have to be
sponsored by a company (which puts you in a position where it would be
difficult to quit if they were jerks). Also, that would put your family
in the position of being on your visa, so they wouldn't have rights to
work. (your kid couldn't even work at McDonalds legally) The best
route is to get a green card, but that isn't very straight forward
either.
So, in a nutshell, it's a trick. You might spend sometime on
http://www.ins.gov and figure out what would work best for you. They're
pretty slow and unfriendly -- it turns out most of the people they work
for can't vote against them ;)
