Count yourself lucky. A friend of my business partner received a letter
from the RIAA (and I saw it, so this is not one of those "friend of a
friend" things) telling him that he can either pay a $750 settlement and
cease and desist illegal file sharing, or be prosecuted for copyright
infringement.
Sounds like extortion to me, but when you have the US lawmakers in your
back pocket, you can write the laws to benefit your own cause.
