What you'll want to do is boot off the first OSX install CD and run Disk
Utility from there (under the first menu). Select the volume, click
partitions, and then split the "Macintosh HD" partition in 2. Size as
desired. You can either give the second partition a name, i.e. "Linux
Goes Here", or just mark it as free space. Once the drive is partitioned
as you want, then (re-)install OSX and all the other restore CDs. When
you're done playing with OSX and its associated fun things (it's taken
me 2 months to get around to installing Linux on it), then go through
the Linux install.
