=================================

Yeah, the first thing I had to do to my old k6-2 350
(12/98 manufacture date) was get a new cdrom for it..
The old one doesn't read cdr's or any format that is
new.

IF you find it reads an MS O/S disk, that tells you
nothing as to reading cdr's. It has to do with the
'color' of the underside. MS disks are light colored
and cdr's are dark...the media is different and the
laser just doesn't read it from an old style.

Read that somewhere last summer when I encountered it.
