Thanks for all the replies, everyone. PLUG is a great group full of
helpful, positive people.

I *do* use Linux in my daily work, and overall, I *don't* like it.
If that causes waves of revulsion in your soul, may I suggest that your
zeal-ometer needs recalibration. :-)

The original point of this discussion is too distant now to bother
