I use many of mine here as a write once and read many. Basically, my entire multimedia library (all legally acquired of course) sits on 5 256 GB drives. They are all USB thumb drives and the only time they are accessed is when I want to play a movie or music locally. They are almost as fast as an HDD on USB when it comes to read speeds. These things will still be working when that tech has gone the way of the Dodo.
