Subject: Re: slow system
I did a google search on the phrase "Misaligned resource pointer". Almost
all of the results I checked seemed to say this message comes from ACPI and
several said it was a known bug. Whether true or not, since this has only
to do with power management and you are using a desktop system, you might
just try booting with ACPI turned off.

This is guesswork, but perhaps the slowness in booting has to do with the
attempt to discover controllable resources. It could also be that conflicts
from the new hardware are involved. In any case, turning off ACPI is one of
the common cures for booting a LiveCD on older systems.

In any case, it is worth a shot and I think can be tried easily although I
do not know how. Maybe one of the gurus here can pop in and say how or tell
us I am totally wrong. :)
