That's a good guess.
You'll need to add the acpi=off kernel parameter. Presuming you're using
grub, you can add "acpi=off" to the kernel parameters like such:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2200.fc5 ro root=LABEL=/fedora rhgb quiet acpi=off
Keep everything you already have, simply add 'acpi=off' to the end of the list.
