I did a google search on the phrase "Misaligned resource pointer". Almost all of the results I checked seemed to say this message comes from ACPI and several said it was a known bug. Whether true or not, since this has only to do with power management and you are using a desktop system, you might just try booting with ACPI turned off. This is guesswork, but perhaps the slowness in booting has to do with the attempt to discover controllable resources. It could also be that conflicts from the new hardware are involved. In any case, turning off ACPI is one of the common cures for booting a LiveCD on older systems. In any case, it is worth a shot and I think can be tried easily although I do not know how.
