If you really want to do this right then you should probably get a nice
list of different hosts, through different backbones, etc. That way you
need not assume *your* connection is down just because someone,
somewhere rebooted a router or web server. Doing a round-robin through a
list of hosts also reduces the amount any one of those hosts will see
you.
