A few things:
1. Are you sure that remote desktop is enabled? As in, have you accessed it
already from somewhere else (at work, maybe)?
2. Try 'ping dskvodhner'. Does that work? If not, try adding on the internal
LAN's domain onto the end and try that. If it still doesn't work, then try
the straight IP. Whichever one works with ping will work with rdesktop.
