I've got a 512MB flash drive that I want to make bootable with Slax 5. I've
read the documentation on the Slax page, but it seems to relate to the
previous version of Slax. For instance, the create_bootdisk.sh script now
appears to be called create_bootiso.sh. I've tried substituting the new
script into the directions, but still get errors.
The directions are to boot to Slax, log as root, cd to /boot then
./create_bootdisk.sh . /dev/sda1 /dev/sda SLAX
When I ran this with Slax 4.2 it seemed to work, creating a directory SLAX
on my USB drive with all the same files/directories that were in the image
on the cd. However, even after setting my bios to boot to sandisk cruzer
mini and disabling all other boot devices, it didn't work. I read that in
v.5 the create_bootdisk.sh script was fixed, but I can't even get that one
to copy anything to my flash drive.
I'm going to post at the Slax forum as well, but wanted to ask if anyone
here could offer any experience in doing this. I haven't been able to find
much online, except the standard docs at the Slax page and they're still
written for the last version.
I'm thinking about formatting my USB drive to ext2 and then trying this
again. Any ideas?
TIA,
Steve
