Actually, according to the devs (which are some of the same major devs
working for Debian -- Matt Zimmerman included) Ubuntu will only
officially support GNOME instead of KDE. KDE _is_ available, but only if
you're willing to fight through the installation of it.
I personally have not attempted to install KDE yet.
