IF you don't need anything except access to the
web..no webpage, no email address, no usenet, etc,
then they do have just a pop for 15/month for the dsl
plus ten for the access. That is all I have 256k/256k.
I connect and d/l 26.7KB which is about 240kb plus.
Very happy with it.

It is easy, just put the wall splitter in, hook up the
system and sorta fumble around with the 'setup'
instructions....seems one was 'backwards', but I did
it and plenty here will tell you, I am NOT a sys/admin
person nor know networking at all. On qwest dsl
256/256 right now.

Once the connection is setup from the modem to the
provider, it is 'there' whether in linux or windoze. I
had no choice, I set it up with linux and Knoppix 3.3
if I remember right.

On a amd K6-2 350, 128, 40gb. Slow, but steady.

This is 'simply Mepis', installed, slicker than ice to
install, the following is a copy/paste from the
cdrom's 'version' file.

SimplyMEPIS-2004.04
Published by: MEPIS LLC, www.mepis.com
Prepared by: MEPIS LLC, www.mepis.com

I had a partition to install to already setup, so
didn't have to partition the hd, just install.

I also recommend getting a copy of Knoppix 3.6 and
running from cdrom first. Great distro for seeing any
conflicts and it will automatically detect a dsl or
cable modem if windows does!!

Cyclists should expect and demand safe
accommodation on our public roads,
just as does every other user.

Nothing more is expected.

Nothing less is acceptable!

Long live Knoppix!!
