Subject: Re: Installfest?
I would like to bring my laptop (a HP ZE4325US) to the installfest for
help. It uses ACPI, but the inner workings are non-standard enough that
no distro I have tried (including Mandrake 10.1, the current SUSE and
the current Knoppix) will install with ACPI enabled. Consequently,
battery, temperature and power management don't work- the thing runs
hotter than a two-dollar pistol for about 45 minutes before the battery
goes dead.

PCMCIA also doesn't work, and I would like to get this beast working for
wireless internet.

Based on what I have seen on the net, the solution involves starting
with a vanilla kernel and applying several patches. It is a little
beyond me at present.

I can burn a copy of a vanilla kernel, plus copies of the ACPI,
Omnibook, CPUFrequency and PCMCIA patches to CD-ROM for this adventure-
is there anything else, besides the laptop, which I will need to bring
to the Installfest?
