While you're distro-surfing, check out Simply Mepis. I'm really impressed with
it. It's a live-cd so you can boot it up and see if it detects all your
hardware properly. Then if you like it, it's probably the easiest Linux
installation you'll ever find.
It's Debian-based, but with thoughtful touches for a desktop system, like
simplified menus and Guarddog firewall already installed.
