Here's a good link for downloading hosts files:

I like to use the 0.0.0.0 format, since Netscape-based browsers seem to work
better with 0.0.0.0 than with 127.0.0.1.

There's also a "Porn sites" list available for blocking porn sites, that
includes the regular pernicious web advertisers like Doubleclick. That one's
only in 127.0.0.1 format, but it's a trivial thing to change that to 0.0.0.0
in a text editor.

If you install a hosts file then find you can't access a site you want, just #
or delete that site's line in the file.
