My point was the headphone output -- the
mixer just happened to be where our sound was.
I am guessing your home entertainment system has
some sort of headphone output, right?

Unfortunately plugging into it may cut off
your speakers, so you may need to tinker
a little bit so that you can monitor what's
being played -- but your best monitor option
would be if your sound card feeds out the
sound it is receiving, that way you can
hear if it is getting distorted.

You may need to go to Radio Shack and get an
adapter and/or cable.

I'm still waiting to hear the software answers
from the group, but a Google for
linux digital recording
... will probably give you some leads.
