Very limited funds wise. My point was the headphone output -- the mixer just happened to be where our sound was. I am guessing your home entertainment system has some sort of headphone output, right? Unfortunately plugging into it may cut off your speakers, so you may need to tinker a little bit so that you can monitor what's being played -- but your best monitor option would be if your sound card feeds out the sound it is receiving, that way you can hear if it is getting distorted. You may need to go to Radio Shack and get an adapter and/or cable. I'm still waiting to hear the software answers from the group, but a Google for linux digital recording ... will probably give you some leads.
