Correct. Each LPIC level requires 2 exams. Sun used to also do this for their Certified Solaris Admin cert but I'm not sure if they still do (mine if from Solaris 7). HP only requires 1 exam for HP-UX.

Each exam for LPIC-1 is $100 at Prometric (www.2test.com).

I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that if you're going for
LPIC-1 your going to have to take two exams and for LPIC-2 you're going
to have to take two additional exams. I haven't looked at the cost of
the exams or into the Linux+ cert.

FWIW, RHCE seems to be the most respected of the present Linux certs. I
see that SuSE is getting the cert bandwagon (no surprise, being Novel).
The SuSE certs have LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 as a prerequisite.
