Subject: RE: Resume
When you write your resume, put yourself in the position of the person
who reviews the resumes. The reviewer will spend about 30 seconds to 1
minute to decide if your resume should be placed in the "interview" pile
versus the "rejection" pile. Make it easy for the reviewer to figure out
if you are qualified for the job! Use the correct terminology for the
job, and focus on the skills needed to be successful in the job. Your
resume will not land you the job - its only purpose is to get you to an
interview.

1. Your Career Objective should be tailored to the job you are applying
for. If the job is for a help desk, then say you want to work at a help
desk. Use this opportunity to show you know what it means to work on a
help desk.

2. Drop the patient section. It is better explained in person.

3. Perhaps you should use a skills based resume as opposed to an
employment based resume. Do some research and find out the top three or
four skills that a help desk person needs to have. Review your work
experience and find examples where you demonstrated/learned these
skills. Then write a brief description of these experiences (1-4
sentences). Focus on the results you achieved for your employer in these
examples. Then, put a brief employment chronology at the bottom - dates,
employer, title or description of position, address. Again, focus on
what you offer your employer and how you can help them succeed.

4. There are lots of good resume writing books that can help you with
the format, wording, etc.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
