Ditto on the helmet. And as a (pedal-type) biker, I'd
suggest you review your route and see if you could take it
largely through residential neighborhoods.
The law is there for a purpose, and it's largely
against you I'm sure. You're not licensed for
the street (though there might be an exemption for
low power or low speed), and officially the sidewalk
is not even for bicycles.
Near large streets you need to use the sidewalks, and
this is likely to be technically illegal, but it's done
all the time so I'd expect they would not hassle you
if you were *very* careful to defer to pedestrians.
In residential neighborhoods, again, you might need
to pull aside if traffic gets thick, so keep your
ears open, but that's definitely not a place to ride
on the sidewalk - even with a human-powered bike -
unless it's totally wide open visibility.
I rode one of those electric scooters just once.
About 12 mph, I felt I had *no* control.
