The wire from the cox box on the wall of my building runs on the outside
of the building and is the main culprit in my troubles. Its old ... and
possibly the wrong type of wire.

Its really hard for me to say. I don't know. I think I would have to
say fades. I suppose it could be the cable modem ... but for some
reason I think not. Even though my cat really likes sleeping on it when
its cold out.
