I had read somewhere that XFree86 will compile under windows to do some
sort of Hummingbird type functionality. I haven't tried it or seen it,
but it seems that it would be ideal to have X11 running on the client
instead of framebuffer software.
The advantage of VNC is that the KDE desktop sharing stuff is based on
VNC. I think that the guys who are working on one for GNOME are
thinking the same thing. So, it is pretty universal...
