A long time ago OpenSSH incorrectly killed all ssh sessions during upgrades=

That has been fixed.
Updating over the Net isn't too risky, but I generally still want to be abl=
e
to get on the console just in case.

You still want security updates. Not much of a risk doing them
automagically. Set the box up to send you root mail and you should get cron
output if there's a problem.
