If you have the option, I would highly recommend upgrading to 1.1.0
It's soooo much nicer than 1.0.1. I don't know if it will solve your
problem or not, but it will certain solve at least 1 or 2 grips that you
might have about OOo.

PS I just tried clicking the crap out of the scroll button in 1.1 and it
seems to only move 1 line per click without any weird problems like
you are describing.
