Subject: We need more Linux users
That's a good point. However, we all learned on a computer somewhere at
sometime and that will always be our measuring stick. I started
programming steps on a TI-65 with memory strips. Went to Comodore
VIC-20 and 64 then to Atari ST-520. That was a span of 9 years for
me. My(our) aptitude is higher than the average bear.

I think finding the needs of the user and transitioning them to an Open
Source alternative would be the best path to take. If they're 5 years+
on an 8 year old OS, this should be pretty easy especially if we make it
"fun."

Show them the multimedia aspects, how to backup and restore data.
Invite them to the Install fests and get them to "get it" about free
software. I can tell you that from personal experience that the users
who stuck to their old OS know how "click this button and drag this
here" to get what they want. Frankly, they need to "get" that they
really don't own anything they have on Microsoft Operating Systems, only
the permission to use it.
