You will need to finsih the install and upgrade the kernel to 2.4.18.
This is a fairly easy task and can be acomplished with apt and a line
added to /etc/lilo.conf (ask if you need more help.) Then you should be
able to use the e1000 driver included with the latest kernel.
At least I am pretty sure this kernel has it in it. Otherwise you may
need to download 2.4.21 from the testing/unstable branch and use that
one. I know it has it included I just don't have a 2.4.18 kernel
installed to check.
