Tom's boot disk is a floppy based emergency disk

RedHat CD's work terrifically in 'linux rescue' mode

The issue probably isn't the emergency boot disk, it's the fact that you
want some toolkit assistance to fill in the gap of your knowledge. I
have used the Win2K/XP recovery console many times...it's rather limited
in use. I much prefer booting a RedHat CD in rescue mode - I have a
phenomenal amount of options available to me.
