You mean https (ssl) connections. Have you tried just :

https://www.sitename.com

http://www.sitename.com:443 should fail. Port 443 on a web server should
be looking for ssl connections only.

What works for Netscape should work for Mozilla, they are very similar.

This should be the same as Netscape... Edit -> Preferences -> Helper
Applications

See what your settings are for Netscape here and try copying them into
Mozilla.
