this sounds like you were getting dependency issues when upgrade from 1.0.5 to

you need to debug evolution, so run evolution (do not run as root) from CLI 
and if you want send the debug messages to a file like this:

$ evolution --debug=FILENAME

the FILENAME can be any name.

let us know what errors you find.
