That 2-headed (monster), err install, last Saturday

After terrific help at the Installfest, there that is something that 
shows up in more than one place.  I first noticed it using 
Evolution (email client).  It dies after one or a few requests (menu 
or icon clicks).  
Usually on the first, but sometimes after 3 or 4.  Thinking it was 
Evolution, I went 
from the Mandrake include (1.0.5) to the latested on ximian's site 
(1.0.8).  Same 
problem.  Then, I noticed that the Gnome configuration tool 
sometimes acts the 
same way.  So, I'm thinking it's a deeper problem than Evolution.

Any suggestions?  Perhaps I should do a clean install from scratch 
(after using 
BRU to capture my various creations.
