I have used KeepassX V2 on ubuntu 16.04 for almost a year, I did use it
with the old database for a few weeks then migrated using the included
upgrade tool
I also keep the database in my nextcloud account so it stays in sync across
all my computers. I have seen usb drives used----BACKUP your DB
