Nope. I have *only* done installs (and extremely rare removals) via
synaptic.

The best experience I have ever had with Linux was with PCLinux with KDE
3.5 ... however as PCL and KDE forced everyone to "move on" everything
got royally screwed up to the point that I eventually had to change linux
flavors (trying many different flavors). Now I have some boxes running
kubuntu and some running mint and while there are nagging problems with
both, I have learned to just live with the annoyances and try to avoid
updates that have invariably created problems.

Meanwhile, my oldest box still runs PCLinux with KDE 3.5 and it *never*
fails.

Question: What ever happened to *Keep it simple?*
Answer: It got blown away by endless nuisance changes and bloatware.
