There's some decent advice in this thread, but I switched to a MacBook Pro
from Linux a little over a year ago and my experience has been now that
most desktop environments are terribŠ, I mean want 3d acceleration
virtualizing a desktop you want to use heavily is just a bad experience.

I set up a triple boot using rEFIt of OS X, Fedora and Win7 which worked
pretty well. The decision I ended up making was to just use 1 desktop and
all the xbox and vmware fusion vms I use are cli/ssh only.
